Death of the Blackberry

As you remember my earlier blog I had decided to just use the sucker as a telephone and forget all that other stuff. Well, guess what, while I was in Texas it kept dropping calls, wouldn't ring, couldn't access the contact feature, etc. Even Stacy could not get it to work properly. So when I got home I went directly to altell to get a different phone (one preferably that would work). Well the time had expired meaning that they couldn't return it. I knew this but I needed a phone that would work.
The young man asked me what he could do for me. I told him I hate this phone and it doesn't work properly. He took it and fooled with it and told me it was working properly and they couldn't return it. I told him that it doesn't work right for me and I hate it. He again told me they couldn't return it. This kept up and kept up...everytime I said something he would tell me they couldn't return it. I told him I understood that but I need a new phone. He again said they same thing as above. I told him I hate the sucker so bad that all I really felt like doing was throwing it at the wall (which was above his head). His response never changed. I finally grabbed the dang thing out of his hand and asked him if he was going to sell me a new phone. He still said the same thing. So I then asked him what it would cost me to break my contract with them. He ended up going to his manager and then I was asked in. She told me she didn't like the way I was talking in front of the other customers (really? duh). I explained why I was so angry because no matter what I said he said the same thing. I told her I couldn't understand how he could interpret "are you going to SELL me a new phone?" to me expecting them to let me return the blackberry. She apologized with well he's young and we really don't want to lose your business.
I bought a new phone that I'm very happy with. I still have the blackberry but I had them kill it! They told me I could probably sell it for $150 to some college student but for now that's not high on my priority list. THE BLACKBERRY'S DEAD and I'm doing fine!!! lol

Moving?

First off I want to apologize that I've been to busy to pay much attention to blogging, (reading and writing). I ended up going down to the kids' right after dad's funeral. I was there for a couple weeks and made some life-changing plans. Most of you probably already know but just in case anyone doesn't know....I'M MOVING to Texas. But...the reason for the ? mark behind moving in the title is because I haven't been approved by the apartment complex yet. The rent is income-based so they have to verify that I don't have more than what I told them. (and I don't).lol Waiting is stressful for me because so much hinges on the approval...giving notice here, changing my social security to new bank, making arrangements for a mover and the list goes on!!!! Now faction into that...I am a very inpatient waiter anyway, when I decide I want something, I want it yesterday!

My new home will be within a mile of Stacy, Sherri, and Elizabeth. Yippeeeee! It is a new gated senior community, single story. The apartments have granite countertops, a granite computer desk, laminated wood flooring, pedestal sink and walk-in shower, kitchen and bathroom pantries, frost-free refrigerator freezer with ice maker, built in microwave, dishwasher and lots of kitchen cabinets, also bedroom has large walk-in closet. They have connections for washer-dryer hookups and rent the washers and dryers...it might sound strange to some of you but I am so excited that I will have a washer and dryer again after 10 years of not having them. It also has vaulted ceilings.

The clubhouse or common area that I will have key remote for entrance 24 hours a day has a fitness center, hot tub, game room, arts and crafts room, theater, library with 2 computers. There is also a swimming pool. I am sooooooo excited!

BUT....seems like there is always a but, doesn't it? This leaves baby sister here without me and this will be hard on both of us. We've been so close for going on 5 years even though we didn't always see each other that often but we talk almost every day and we'll still have each other at the other end of the phone. She is happy for me that I will be closer to see Elizabeth growing up.
The other side of the coin is that my move will put me closer to middle sis (please no comment to the word middle lol). I will be less than 3 hours away form her, that's close enough for even a day trip.

Anyhow...now you all know what's going on in my life. I need to get off here because my packing helper (Michelle) will probably be here within an hour. I am getting rid of everything that I cannot manage by myself after my move.
PLEASE PRAY THAT I GET APPROVAL VERY SOON!!! LOVE YOU ALL!

Jackie's 15th birthday

This post sure surprised me!!! While reading "My first kiss", I'm thinking "I don't remember this....I don't remember being at your 15th birthday party, a best friend Terry nor her brother Phil". So I was very perplexed when reading this.
Then it hit me!!! When you turned 15, I was 19....married, pregnant, and not living at home anymore. I don't know who that masked Kathy impersonator was, but it wasn't me lol.

Blackberry and me

Well it's like this...my phone started doing things on its own. It would ring differently than I had it set for, it would notify me that I had missed a call the day before, etc. Considering I don't have a land line, this was totally unacceptable. So I went to get a new phone and as it turned out the cheapest thing in the Alltel store was a Blackberry ($19.99). So okay, what's the big deal...I can just use the phone and forget the rest if I'm confused about the whole thing. Right? Then the salesman asked me if I use the internet, I affirmed and he asked me if I wanted him to set that up for me. Wow I thought, I can keep track of emails when I'm away from home. Yep, I had him set it up. He asked me if I wanted the contraption to notify me when a new email came in and I said sure. After last night I changed my mind on that one. In 1 hour it woke me up three times so I had to figure out how to get it to stop (yes, I know I should have stuck with my original plan to just use it as a phone). I do like the capability but it just doesn't need to notify me all night.
However there are a number of things on it that tweek my curiosity. Thankfully, I read Danny's blog where he was talking Facebook. Thank you, Danny! I'm leaving that icon alone along with GPS Navigator, Pocket Express, Google talk, and a few others.
There's nothing like being an elder person afraid of her own phone! I'm sharing this so you all can get a glimpse of how my life throws me lemons at times. lol

Red boots

Mom took both of us to get new shoes for church. Yes, you got the red boots and at the time I thought, well you did it again and I don't understand why.
It's things like this that confuse me when you clain "middle child syndrome". lol

Say duck

I don't have a lot to say about this one. Other than...are any of you getting a good picture of how my little sister was as a child??? It was a constant battle for mom and dad to just think a little ahead of Jackie and it was still baffling to them. Mom always tried to not let sis get the upper hand, which to mom, was saying DUCK. Believe me, mom only said duck because her hands were full!

Making it feel better

That may have been the first time you rubbed your hiney after a spanking but it wasn't the last. They soon learned that spankings worked for you. That's the reason they had to try to find an alternative punishment. They finally figured out that what bothered you the most was not being able to go outside. They would make you sit in a chair and this really got to you. You were such a "outside" child and often you would beg them to spank you so you could go back out. I enjoyed this because 9 out 10 times you were in trouble for pestering or doing something to me. If you were inside on a chair I was free to do my own thing without pesty little sister.
To all readers, you need to realize that her picking on me back then was more constant than normal, it seemed to be her reason for living although then I couldn't have said it this way. lol
